Catherine Eichhorn, assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry, has received a National Science Foundation CAREER award for her proposal "Molecular mechanisms of ribonucleoprotein assembly".

The award supports early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization

Eichhorn, who researches how dysfunctions in cellular machinery contribute to disease, leads the Eichhorn Research Group that uses integrated structural biology, biophysical, and chemical biology tools to investigate the folding and function of regulatory RNAs and RNPs.
