David Hage, James Hewett University Professor in the Department of Chemistry, received the 2023 Award for Distinguished Contributions in Education from the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine.
This award recognizes his teaching, work as a research mentor for students, and published textbooks and textbook chapters related to clinical chemistry and bioanalysis. He was nominated for this award by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry after receiving their Outstanding Contributions to Education in Clinical Chemistry award last year.
"[David Hage] has a distinguished career as a scientist and educator and [his] contributions in service to our profession are extraordinary," Maurizio Ferrari, awards committee chair, said.
Hage is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and of the AACC Academy. He is the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Chromatography B and founder plus director for the graduate certificate programs in bioanalytical chemistry and analytical separations at the University of Nebraska. He leads a research group that uses biological ligands in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and capillary electrophoresis (CE) for the analysis of clinical, pharmaceutical, and environmental agents.
